What the practice does

Five areas of work, usually combined on a single project — from the first reading of a site to the planting of the last tree.

01

Landscape Architecture

Site strategy, levels and structure — the framework a garden is built on.

Reading the site comes first: slope, aspect, wind, water and the way people will move through it. The design work turns that reading into levels, walls, paths, planting zones and the spatial sequence of the garden.

  • Site analysis
  • Concept and spatial layout
  • Levels, retaining and circulation
  • Material and detail direction
02

Garden Design

Private gardens designed around how the space will actually be used.

A garden for a family, a courtyard for shade, a terrace for evenings. The design sets the structure, then the planting, then the details that make the space feel finished rather than installed.

  • Brief and site survey
  • Layout and planting plan
  • Plant selection and sourcing
  • Planting coordination on site
03

Commercial Landscapes

Hotel grounds, restaurants and guest-facing outdoor space.

Commercial landscapes have to work every day of the year and look considered from the first season. The work covers guest circulation, shade, seasonal interest and planting that can be maintained to a realistic schedule.

  • Guest-facing layout
  • Shade and shelter
  • Low-maintenance planting structure
  • Phasing around opening hours
04

Planting Design

Planting palettes built on the island’s climate and flora.

Planting is designed as a community, not a list: what holds the wind, what gives structure in winter, what carries colour, and what will still be there in ten years. Species are chosen for the site’s exposure and water regime.

  • Palette by exposure and soil
  • Layering and seasonal sequence
  • Rare and unusual species on request
  • Sourcing through specialist growers
05

Landscape Consultation

A focused review of an existing garden or a project in progress.

For clients who already have a site, a plan or a garden that is not working. A consultation identifies what to keep, what to change and in what order — useful before committing to construction or a large plant order.

  • Site visit and review
  • Priority plan
  • Plant and material advice
  • Second opinion on an existing design

Process

Four stages,
no surprises.

  1. 01

    Conversation

The site, the brief, the budget and the constraints — before anything is drawn.

  2. 02

    Site reading

Levels, aspect, wind, soil and existing planting. What the place already offers.

  3. 03

    Design

Layout, structure and planting developed together, reviewed with you in stages.

  4. 04

    Realisation

Plant sourcing, setting out and coordination while the garden is built.

Scope

Full garden, or one decision.

Some clients need a complete garden designed and built. Others need a planting plan, a second opinion on an existing design, or help choosing plants that will survive a particular exposure. Both are valid starting points.
